With an "ecriture automatique" of curves, zigzag lines, line meshes and simple surfaces, Marianne Eigenheer works out a vocabulary of precise object-like signs that contains erotic echoes. She limits herself to the colours red, blue, white and black, sometimes adding gold. Her oeuvre cannot be assigned to any particular style, but shows in itself a continuous logical sequence. Over the years, a personal iconography has emerged, usually combined into groups of works. Several levels of comprehension can be accessed through the titles of the paintings: Fairy tales, music titles and novel characters do not serve to illustrate, but rather to approach pictorial content.
