René Küng, who grew up in Allschwil, attended the preliminary course at the School of Applied Arts Basel in 1950 and then completed an apprenticeship as a stonemason.
Küng's sculptural work in wood and stone deals with the elements, systems of order and moods of nature, which lead him from natural symbols, archetypal signs and metaphors of human culture to archaic works.
