Dominique Rietzler consistently pursues his path as an artist. He does not constantly reproduce the same themes, but always looks for new starting points in the motif and in the technique, which lead him in a completely different direction. The consistent continuation of his development is also reflected in the choice of material for the picture's background. It is no longer canvas or paper but aluminium that now serves Dominique Rietzler as the primary basis for his paintings. He discovered this material for himself and developed his own painting technique over the course of two whole years. The aluminium provides the background that makes the colours express themselves even more powerfully.

Dominique Rietzler creates strong accents in his paintings with large areas of colour. Colours are delineated against each other and at the same time broken up again. Each colour stands for itself and has its own inner life. The artist skilfully plays with the ground and the thickness of the paint application, which creates a great depth of the picture surface. The palette knife, however, also produces a very lively, almost fibrous structure that takes on a completely different effect depending on the light.
